Focus on feeling JEALOUS

Jealousy is the state of feeling jealous - or envious of what others have or have accomplished.  When we see others' toys, friends, clothes, awards, opportunities, sometimes we can forget about our own good fortunes and traits and become angry that we don't have what they do.

For PK, K, and 1st grade students check out this read aloud about jealousy:

When I'm Feeling Jealous by Trace Moroney

For 2nd - 5th grade students, check out this read aloud of Jealousy: A Tale of Two Best Friends here:

Jealousy: A Tale of Two Best Friends

Have you ever felt jealous? What happened to make you feel that way?

Make a list of all that you are proud of and thankful to have in your life. Draw pictures, write words, write it down in a journal if you like. Review your list and see how much positive you have in and around you and put it somewhere safe to keep. The next time you feel yourself focusing on what others have that you don't, pull this list out and read it again. Focus your thoughts on all that you do have, instead of what you don't.
